Finding Belonging
It doesn't matter who you are or what your social status is - all of us are seeking a sense of belonging in some way. I think this might be one of our collective core wounds.
Some of us may have a better sense of who we are and be able to show up more authentically.
Some of us feel more fluid about who we are and tend to shift our identity to match who we're with.
Regardless of what bucket you fall into, you have the power to create belonging.
Instead of thinking about this from the perspective of wanting to fit in, you can find a more empowered perspective...
You don't need to find belonging because YOU are the one who creates belonging for others.
You don't need to fit in with others. You can create space for others to fit in with YOU.
This perspective doesn't always take the sting away from feeling like an outsider. But it offers you a pathway to change how you experience it.
And if you choose to embody it - meaning actually doing it - think of how that can foster greater belonging for everyone.
In Solidarity,
Jill
